The Ocean Conservancy partners with organizations and individuals around the globe to clean up the world’s beaches and waterways. Over nearly three decades, the annual International Coastal Cleanup has mobilized millions of people in the world's largest volunteer effort for our ocean and waterways.
This is different than the other cleanups that Kent Island Beach Cleanups organize in that we are not just picking up trash along the shorelines, bike paths, and marshes. Not only do we clean the waterways, but we count each piece of trash we pick up so that we can log these items and send them to the Ocean Conservancy. In the last 5 years, KIBCU has contributed to the International Coastal Cleanups grand total of debris collected! For this special event, we need volunteers who are willing to record the items they pick up on a data sheet that Kent Island Beach Cleanups will provide to you that day. Don't worry, we will do the tallying of all of the data cards! We just need dedicated and patient volunteers for 3 hours this day.
**Please plan to arrive at one of the cleanup sites between 8-8:15 am to sign in**
Please call or text if you have any questions.

What to bring: we provide our volunteers with disposable gloves and trash bags, but we encourage you to bring your own supplies if you wish. We have a limited supply of buckets, trash pickers and small, light-weight rakes that you can sign out to use and then return before you leave. If you have other supplies you may think will help, such as garden clippers, trash pickers, etc...please bring them. It never hurts to bring your friends, family and other like-minded volunteers as well!
What to wear: sunscreen, bug spray, clothing that you do not mind getting a little dirty and boots or old sneakers.
**PS: if you or your children need volunteer/community service hours, we will sign your forms if you come to one of our events!!
