Description
A coalition of agriculture leaders, educators, and businesses have created an "Agriculture Awareness Day" for all 7th grader students in Queen Anne's County. 600 students plus chaperones and teachers will be spending one school day, at the Queen Anne's County 4-H park, interacting and learning in five stations. The five stations cover the future of agriculture, aquaculture, farm animals, bees in agriculture, and the green stuff (nursery, landscaping, produce, forestry, greenhouses, and floriculture).Students will be bused from Sudlersville and Centreville Middle on April 24th and on the 25th, Stevensville and Matapeake Middle. Educators, professionals, local farmers, as well as 4-H and FFA members, will be teaching students through numerous activities and hands-on interaction, following 7th grade curriculum school standards, which include Next Generation Science Standards as well as Environmental Literacy Standards.
- Educators will receive T-Shirts, with enough funding all students will also receive T-Shirts.
- A passport is an interactive booklet given to each student to complete activities in during the day.
- QACTV will be filming our event, logos will be displayed throughout the film.
