Description
Mid Shore Behavioral Health and dozens of community partners are coming together to close September's National Recovery Month and Go Purple with a final celebration of mid-shore unity and solidarity around the prevention of substance misuse and overdose. Join your neighbors and community at the second annual The Mid-Shore is Going Purple Together event in Idlewild Park on Friday, September 24. Dozens of community organizations are coming together to promote substance use prevention and education, and to show that recovery is possible! Enjoy a live DJ, virtual reality, a teen-created hip-hop time capsule, local African American history exhibit, Zumba, an art show and so much more as we celebrate Go Purple and Recovery Month in the mid-shore. A Peer Support Specialist ceremony will honor local heroes who have overcome their substance use disorder and are now helping others through their journey to sobriety. Learn about local resources to help those struggling with substance use, and outdoor dine with some tasty food truck offerings, including Amy Cool's Ice Cream Express and So Coast. For more details on Going Purple Together and other Go Purple events happening in the mid-shore visit www.midshorebehavioralhealth.org/gpt. Event sponsored by Mid Shore Behavioral Health and many local agencies including Caroline County YMCA, Caroline Goes Purple, Caroline County Health Department, Chesapeake Heritage Project, Chesapeake Voyagers Choptank Community Health, Dorchester Goes Purple, Dorchester County Health Department, Dri-Dock Wellness and Recovery, Kent County Health Department, Kent Rotary, Kent Goes Purple, Maryland Addiction Consultation Service, Mariah's Mission, Maryland Coalition of Families, Maryland ROTA, Mid Shore Pro Bono, Mid-Shore Restoring HOPE in Women, Minary's Dream Alliance Queen Anne's County Health Department, Queen Anne's County Goes Purple, Recovery in Motion, Sante Mobile Crisis, Talbot County Health Department, and Talbot Goes Purple.
